‘Eastern European Movies & TV’ Scripts

One of the ‘Foreign’ subgenres.

Neither a ‘mood’ nor a ‘tone,’ these scripts have a specific style of filmmaking that relates to a ‘Primary Genre’ and subgenre.

Scripts under this subgenre feature content made in Eastern European countries, and produced primarily for a domestic audience. These could come in several dialects and other languages, including English.

As of this writing, there are 28 countries (excluding Russia, which has it’s own category of scripts) included under this subgenre. Countries like Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Türkiye, Belarus, and Greece, just to name a few.

Also, former Soviet Republics (collectively ‘USSR’ prior to 1990) would be included here unless otherwise noted. For example, East Germany (now Germany), and Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) would be excluded from this subgenre because they have their own category. However, scripts from Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Kazakhstan would indeed be included here.
