Murrow's (April 25, 1908 – April 27, 1965) public confrontation with U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy during the height of the 1950s Red Scare. Shot in black and white, it was acclaimed for its direction, performances, and political relevance, earning six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
