Depression Era
Screenplays Featuring: ‘Depression Era’ Stories
One of many ‘History’ subgenres.
Scripts under this subgenre feature stories set during one of the worst economic crises in recent history, commonly known as ‘The Great Depression.’ Stories may include narratives set during the era, but may not be specific to the time itself. For example, King Kong (2005) is set during the era, but the film itself is not about ‘The Great Depression.’
Between 1929 and 1939 was a period of great economic depression worldwide that became evident after a major fall in stock prices in the United States. The economic contagion began around September and led to the Wall Street stock market crash of October 24, 1929.
