Aml Ameen as Capheus in season 1 of Sense8

Aml Ameen as “Capheus” (season 1)

Aml Ameen, has become one of the most sought after British actors in film, theatre and television. Hailing from North London, the son of Caribbean parents, Aml burst onto UK cinema screens with his standout performance as “Trife” in the cult classic, feature indie film, KIDULTHOOD. His performance earned him a nomination for ‘Best Newcomer” 2006 Screen Nation Awards, as well as a spot in The London Times list of "Best New Actors of the Year".


Off the success of KIDULTHOOD, Ameen landed a series regular role on the BAFTA Award winning hit TV series, THE BILL. His portrayal of "Officer Lewis Hardy” earned him not only an enthusiastic fan base, but the "Screen Nation Award for Best Actor" in 2007.


His continued success in the UK, along with landing a role in George Lucas’ RED TAILS, ignited Aml’s career in Hollywood. He was cast in his first American indie film, EVIDENCE, starring opposite Radha Mitchell and Stephen Moyer. David E. Kelley took notice of his talent and offered him the first role of his cast for HARRY’S LAW at NBC, playing young lawyer “Malcom Davies". The show also starred Kathy Bates.


In 2013, Screen International named Ameen as one of their “Brits to Watch”. He then landed the role of "Cecil Gaines" (young Forrest Whitaker) in Lee Daniel’s critically acclaimed and award winning feature film, THE BUTLER.


This year, Aml has in the Relativity feature film, BEYOND THE LIGHTS and was a lead in Fox’s blockbuster hit, THE MAZERUNNER. He also co-stars with Jennifer Lopez and Viola Davis in the feature film, LILA & EVE which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival

Brian J. Smith as Will in season 1 of Sense8

Brian J. Smith as “Will”

Brian J. Smith's career began almost immediately after earning his B.F.A at Julliard. He was quickly cast in diverse roles on and off Broadway in Come Back Little Sheba, Good Boys and True, and Three Changes alongside Dylan McDermott and Maura Tierney.


Inevitably, Smith made the leap from the stage to the screen. He appeared as one of the leads in the MGM series Stargate Universe for the SyFy Network. Smith also starred opposite Peter Gallagher in the drama The War Boys and landed a lead role in the independent thriller Red Hook. He also appeared in Poirot: Murder on the Orient Express.


Brian was also recently guest lead for the ABC pilot Quantico. He had a recurring role in CW’s Gossip Girl and starred in the SyFy original film Red Faction: Origins. He was in the mini-series Coma for Scott Free Productions, and had guest star turns in Blue Bloods, Defiance, Person of Interest, The Good Wife and Warehouse 13. He was also seen on Broadway opposite John Lithgow in Columnist.


He originally hails from Texas and in his spare time enjoys running.

Daryl Hannah as Angelica in season 1 of Sense8

Over the course of a 30 year career with over 40 film credits to her name, Daryl Hannah has created some of the most iconic characters in some of the most critically acclaimed, successful and enduring movies of our time.


Some of Daryl’s most indelible portrayals include: the gymnastic punk android "Pris" in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi noir cult classic Blade Runner; “Madison" the mermaid who falls in love with Tom Hanks’ Alan Bauer in Ron Howard’s Splash “Roxanne” in the eponymous Roxanne, Steve Martin’s contemporary take on Cyrano de Bergerac’s classic story; and most recently the chilling “Elle Driver” ian Quentin Tarantino’s cult classics Kill Bill I and II.


Making her big screen debut at age 15 in Brian De Palma’s The Fury, Ms. Hannah set an early pattern of working with the most talented and accomplished directors and actors in films like Wall Street, Steel Magnolias, Reckless, The Pope of Greenwich Village, The Clan of the Cave Bear, Legal Eagles and Grumpy Old Men & Grumpier Old Men.


Daryl has also been a consistent, strong supporter of independent cinema both in acting and producing. She starred in such indie films as John Sayles’s Casa De Los Babies as well as his political satire Silver City. She worked on several films with the revered Robert Altman, including The Gingerbread Man, and several films with Mark and Michael Polish including Northfork and Jackpot.


Starring in the experimental, improvisational Michael Radford film, Dancing at the Blue Iguana inspired Hannah as a filmmaker, and she went on to direct and produce the documentary Strip Notes based on research for her role in the film. She also wrote, directed, and produced an award winning short film, The Last Supper.


Daryl is currently working on the Lana and Andy Wachowski Netflix original series Sense8 which will premiere June 5th and she is in the new James Franco film I Am Micheal.


Daryl has been an impassioned, committed and effective advocate for justice. Actively promoting more ethical relationships to each other and for all life on the planet.


Dedicated to raising awareness and bringing an end to the atrocity of slavery, Daryl traveled undercover to South East Asia to document human trafficking.


She has won numerous awards for her environmental activism. She has produced, hosted, narrated and shot many environmental awareness/ documentaries, and she is a frequent speaker on important issues, both in the conservative and progressive spheres, including keynote speeches at the UN Climate Change Summit, UN Global Business Conference on the Environment, World Travel and Tourism Global Summit, and countless national and international universities, conferences and events.


Daryl has been a greening designer and consultant for events such as the Virgin Music Festival, attended by over 150,000 people.

Doona Bae as Sun in season 1 of Sense8

DOONA BAE is one of the most heralded actresses coming out of Korean cinema, having played the female lead in Director Bong’s film “The Host” and the female lead in director Chan Wook Park’s film “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance”.


Doona can be seen playing the female lead ‘Sonmi 451’ in the Lana and Andy Wachowski’s film “Cloud Atlas” for Warner Bros. Doona played the lead opposite Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, and Jim Sturgess.


Doona can be seen in Lana and Andy Wachowski’s film “Jupiter Ascending” for Warner Bros. opposite Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, and Eddie Redmayne.

Jamie Clayton as Nomi in season 1 of Sense8

Actress Jamie Clayton first came to widespread public acclaim for her performance as Kyla—the emotionally compelling strawberry blonde with a mysterious past—alongside Thomas Jane on Season Three of the hit HBO series Hung. After her multi-episode arc on Hung, Jamie joined actors Hank Harris and Mary Lynn Rajskub as a lead in the ensemble interactive web comedy, Dirty Work, playing crime scene cleanup maven Michelle. In 2012, Dirty Work won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media – Original Interactive Television Programming.


In addition to acting, Jamie has posed for some of the world’s most prestigious photographers, including Patrick Demarchelier, Alexei Hay and Terry Tsolis, for Interview Magazine, LOVE, i-D and other influential publications. After her numerous editorials, Jamie appeared in an international ad campaign for Jeremy Scott. During Mr. Scott’s first runway show as Creative Director at Moschino, Jamie made her Milanese runway debut as one of his new muses for the legendary brand wearing one of the late designer Franco Moschino’s most iconic archival pieces.


Today, she’s bicoastal, dividing her time between New York and Los Angeles. When she’s not acting, Jamie is developing and writing scripts for both television and film with her writing partners Robert Charles Barr and Jason Alvino.

Max Riemelt was born in Berlin, Germany and discovered his love for acting whilst at school. After making his debut in Matthias Steurer's TV mini-series "Zwei allein" in 1998, he followed it up a year later with the TV movie "Ein Weihnachtsmaerchen" and Dana Vavrova's children's adventure film “Bear on the run” ("Der Baer ist los"). His breakthrough came in 2000 with the role as Flin in Dennis Gansel's teenage comedy "Girls on Top" ("Maedchen Maedchen") and he also appeared that year in Friedemann Fromm's TV movie "Brennendes Schweigen".


Since then, he has worked regularly for film and television. 2004 saw Max reprise his role of Flin in the popular "Girls on Top 2" ("Maedchen Maedchen 2 - Loft oder Liebe"), which was directed by Peter Gersina.


He achieved new critical acclaim when he was cast in the lead role of 17-year-old Friedrich Weimer in Dennis Gansel's "Napola - Before the Fall" (Napola - Elite fuer den Fuehrer) for which he was awarded the prize for Best Actor at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. He then traveled to the Hamptons International Film Festival as one of the selected " Rising Stars" to personally introduce the film (Napola subsequently won the festival's Audience Award). Max appeared with Jessica Schwarz in Dominik Graf's “The Red Cockatoo” (”Der Rote Kakadu”), produced by the Berlin production house X Filme Creative Pool, which garnered him the Bavarian Film Award for "Best Young Actor" and “Best Actor” at Marrakech International Film Festival. In 2006 the European Film Promotion announced Max as one of the European Shooting stars during the Berlinale film festival. "The Wave" (“Die Welle”) reunited him with director Dennis Gansel for which they were invited to the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. For the part of MARKO he was given the Austrian Undine Award as best young actor in a feature film.


In 2011 he was the lead in the German TV Series “In the Face of Crime” ("Im Angesicht des Verbrechens") about the Russian Mafia in Berlin, which got him his first German Television Prize and his first "Best German Actor" nomination at the Golden Camera Awards and the ensemble won the prestigious Adolf Grimme Award.

Miguel Ángel Silvestre is a Spanish actor, born in Castellón in 1982.


He began his career giving life to Javi, in the film "Life and Color" directed by Santiago Tabernero. He later joined the TV series "Motivos Personales" and in 2004 he did his first starring role in the movie "The Distance,” directed by Iñaki Dorronsoro.


His role as Rafael Duque in the TV series "Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso" gave him enormous success for which he won two Fotogramas Awards: Best Actor in a Television and actor most searched on the net.

Among his renowned work, he also won the “Ondas Award” for Best Actor and the “Chameleon Honor Award” for Best Newcomer Actor, among other awards.


Following these achievements, Silvestre starred in films like "Verbo" by Eduardo Chapero-Jackson; "Lo Mejor de Eva" by Mariano Barroso, "Winning Streak" by Eduard Cortés, and "Everything is Silence" by José Luis Cuerda.


In 2013 he released "I'm So Excited" by Pedro Almodóvar and "Scorpion In Love" directed by Santiago Zannou.


In 2014 Miguel Ángel starred in a short film directed by Penelope Cruz for the French brand Agent Provocateur.


His most recent work in Spain has been the successful tv-series "Velvet" with actress Paula Echevarría and Jose Sacristan.

Naveen Andrews as Jonas in season 1 of Sense8

NAVEEN ANDREWS is known for his role in JJ Abram's award winning hit series LOST. His performance earned him the Best Supporting Actor nominations at the 2005 Emmy Awards and the 2006 Golden Globes Awards. His most recent film credits include Joel Silver's THE BRAVE ONE with Jodie Foster directed by Neil Jordan, and GRINDHOUSE for director Robert Rodriguez. In addition, Andrews recently starred alongside Naomi Watts in DIANA, a film centered around the romantic, heart breaking love story of Princess Diana and her secret love affair with the renowned heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, played by Naveen.


In 1996 he starred in the critically acclaimed film, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, with Ralph Fiennes , Kristin Scott Thomas and Juliette Binoche, for writer/director Antony Minghella.


He began his career in London where he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and currently resides in Los Angeles.

Terrence Mann as Whispers in season 1 of Sense8

A three time Tony nominee, Mann’s credits include work on the Broadway stage, in film and television, as a director, composer and artistic director. On Broadway, he’s won the outer critics circle award and was nominated for a Tony for his portrayal of King Charlemagne in the hit musical Pippin. He originated the roles of the Beast in Beauty and the Beast (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle nominations), Inspector Javert in Les Miserables (Tony nomination), Rum Tum Tugger in Cats and Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel. Other Broadway credits include The Addams Family (Mal Bienekie), Lennon (Ensemble), The Rocky Horror Show (Frank 'N' Furter), Getting Away With Murder (Greg), A Christmas Carol (Scrooge), Rags (Saul), Barnum (Ringmaster, matinee Barnum on tour), Jerome Robbin's Broadway (Narrator) and Jekyll and Hyde (title roles, pre-Broadway workshop). Off-Broadway and regional credits include TUCK EVERLASTING (the Alliance Theatre )The Studio (South Coast Repertory) Promises, Promises, Assassins and 1776.


Other series work included the role of “Bob” on the Sci-Fi Channel’s The Dresden Files. Additional film and television appearances include Critters, A Chorus Line, Big Top Pee Wee, Solar Babies, “ Love Monkey,” “Law and Order,” “Mrs. Santa Claus,” “American Revolution,” “One Life to Live” and “As the World Turns” (Emmy Nomination). Off the stage, he was the Director/Composer for the musical adaptation of Romeo & Juliet and is founding Artistic Director of the Carolina Arts Festival. He also served as Artistic Director of the North Carolina Theatre for 10 years. He now holds the endowed chair of Musical Theatre at Western Carolina University.

Tina Desai as Kala in season 1 of Sense8

Tina Desai first gained international visibility in 2011 in Fox Searchlight’s Golden Globe nominated THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL in which she played the lead character, Sonny’s (Dev Patel) girlfriend Sunaina. Sunaina is a modern, independent girl, but is also Indian at heart. She has to deal with resistance from Sonny’s mother for marriage, as she belongs to a different caste. Following that project, Desai went on to star in the thriller, TABLE no.21, directed by Aditya Dutt, alongside veteran actors Paresh Rawel and Rajeev Khandelwal and DUSHERA, a political drama thriller, she played the superintendent of police, Aditi Singh. In her most recent project, Desai revived her role of Sunaina in THE SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL. The film followed Sunaina and Sonny’s journey to the altar.


Desai began her acting career in commercials where she established herself and appeared in over 100 adverts. She made her debut into feature films in 2011 with the lead role of “Arunima Dua” in the Hindi thriller-drama YEH FAASLEY. She soon followed that with another lead role in SAHI DHANDHE GALATE BANDHE, a political satire.


Desai comes from an academic background with notable qualifications that include ICSE, ISC (Commerce), and has a degree in Bachelor of Business Management (specializing in finance). She studied acting under veteran actor Anupam Kher, who has over 300 films to his credit and runs a highly respecting acting institute.


Desai speaks English, Hindi and Kannada.

Tuppence Middleton recently wrapped The Weinstein Company’s epic BBC miniseries WAR AND PEACE opposite Lily James and Paul Dano. She recently hit the big screen in the critically acclaimed Weinstein Company feature THE IMITATION GAME opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, as well as Warner Bros feature JUPITER ASCENDING opposite Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis from prolific directors Lana and Andy Wachowski. The Wachowski siblings were so captivated by Tuppence’s work that they immediately cast her in Netflix series SENSE8. Tuppence also stars opposite Kit Harrington in Bharat Nalluri’s independent feature SPOOKS to be released in May.
